Dr.
Mark Wilson Mark Wilson
has been director of the Biomarkers Core Laboratory since 1984.
During that time, the Lab has grown from an operation serving
the needs of a handful of Yerkes investigators to one that provides
assays for a range of biologically active compounds for investigators
around the US. Mark received his BS in Psychology from Arizona
State University in 1973, his MS in Experimental Psychology from
Eastern Washington University in 1976, and his Ph.D. in Psychobiology
from the University of Georgia in 1979. His three years of postdoctoral
training in Del Collins laboratory at the Emory University School
of Medicine from 1979 – 1982 captured his interests in endocrinology.
He is currently a Research Professor and Chief in the Division
of Psychobiology at Yerkes. His research is focused on how social
variables affect the neurobiology of puberty and sensitivity to
hormones. His hobbies include trail running, mountain biking,
adventure racing, and family camping. |

Dr.
Sarah Pruett Sarah Pruett joined the Biomarkers Core Laboratory in 2006. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Tennessee in 2000. Sarah earned her Ph.D. , mentored by Dennis Liotta in Emory’s Chemistry department where she studied lipid analogs using LC-MS/MS. Her current focus in the Biomarkers Core Laboratory is to develop new LC-MS methodologies for hormone analysis along with providing custom LC-MS methods using the facility’s LTQ-Orbitrap mass spectrometer. Her research interests revolve around using mass spectrometry as a profiling technique for early cancer detection and prevention. Sarah’s other interests include jogging, music, spending time with her family, and playing with her two dogs. |
